They speak their own language (Махновчик(Makhnovchik)). Dr. Gold spent time here as a middle-adult, serving as a doctor, before going back out to inspire the system.
Mars- largely terraformed planet. A lot more like Earth than anywhere else in the solar system. Derogatorily referred to as “little terra” by some spacers. While one side of the planet is built and teraformed in bubbles, the other is rough wilderness and red desert. The dividing point is known as the Rust Belt. The inhabited part is super lush and expensive to live on. Has a reputation as the sort of Palm Springs of the non-terran planets. All northern settlements are New OldWorldCity. All Southern settlements are really boring, basic names (some people’s names, some SOMETHINGtown, some numbers) but also there are a lot of local place nicknames that are about how sucky it is to live there. See /home/groups_organizations_&_locations/Mars

The Ring - Stationed at Mars/Sol L3. (mars orbit, but on the other side of the sun) This was originally a small dispatch and transit facility for the SPACE transport hub and, essentially, a truck stop between the inner and outer solar system. (For ships that wanted a stoppover point between earth and the belt, but when Mars would be out of phase). However, a large number of people moved out over a few decades and what was originally a small station grew large and cumbersome. Officially called something like "The MSL2 Transport Ring" people call it "The Ring" colloquially. If Luna is unrestrained capitalism, and Mars is a split between farm and mining towns. The Ring is a bit like a rich trading city. But all the wealth is concentrated at the center, smallest ring, where the fancy types live. Each level "down" (going outward) gets less and less nice, until its basically just wrecks and abandoned areas.
