Communication bands are named by color, COLORline
- Ansible communication, unrestricted, not restricted by distance. Equipment needed for them is very expensive and takes up a lot of space, but is very good. Not very common

- line of sight only. Highly secure because you physically have to break the beam to interrupt it. Generally military/corporation used

- standard communication for most ships. Within scanner range, but can be boosted by other ships, stations, or settlements. Most ships have a blueline amplifier or repeater on them as a public service

- Older commdresses- B+5 digit number, B82128
- Newer commdresses- B +3 digit number - letter that isn’t BWYG+ 5 digit number, B481-P99291
- distress beacon frequency. Broadcasts a random, untargetted signal. Goes further than blueline, but isn’t as cohesive, can send less sophisticated messages. Good for text, and simple audio only.
- These are labeled with the ship’s callsign.
- General ship callsigns are 2 random letters +2 digit random number + random letter, but this is far from uniform
- mass broadcasts. Shows, news, programs, come across on redline.
